Obituary

   Death has claimed another of the old residents of Halstead.  Daniel Robert Free who answered the final summons Wednesday.  The deceased had been engaged in the threshing business for many years and for the past few years house moving had been his specialty between seasons.  His last work between seasons was the clearing away of the wreckage of the big elevator fire.

   He was born in Indiana in 1851.  He married Alice Roy in 1872.  Two children, Edwin Free and Mrs. Wretha Graham were born to this unioon.  He married again in 1888 to Ruth Knight. 

   Survivors: six  children: Ray, Mrs. Ira Remer, Arthur, Dan, Glen, Amos and Loyd Winford Free.  He came to Halstead in 1890 and belonged to the Methodist Church. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
