William Rees Thomas, son of Rees and Gwen Thomas was born in Penmachno, North Wales in 1845 where he early labored in the slate quarries. He came to America in 1866. He farmed in Wisconsin, then returned to Wales where he married Ann Jones of Dolyddelen, North Wales in 1876. Three children, Rees E., Jennie C. both of Burrton and
Gwen. Mr. Thomas and his wife came to Minnesota about 1876 for five years. In 1882 the family returned to Wales for four years. In 1886 the family returned to America and came to Burrton. In 1891 the moved to Almira, Washiington, where Mrs. Thomas died. In 1906 Mr. Thomas returned to Burrton. He traveled to New York, Vermont, Colorado and Washington for his shealth.
He was treasurer of the Sunday School of the Presbyterian Church of Burrton. Survivors: son, daughter, brother R. Thomas of California; sister, Mrs. Gwen Thomas of Tangrisiau, North Wales.
Funeral was at the home and Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Burrton Cemetery.
