Roman Gonales, 82, former well field superintendent for the Wichita Water Department died Monday, December 23, 2013 at his residence near Walton. He was born February 28, 1931 in Newton to Eleodoro and Herlinda Castillo Gonzales.
He was a lifelong Halstead resident, moving to rural Walton followiing his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Sacred Heaart Catholic Church and Ruth-Wilson American Legion Post 231 of Halstead.
On April 11, 1955 he married Catherine E. Franz in Halstead. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Denniis (Cindy) Gonzales, Topeka; daughter, Cathy (Gene) Schneider, Goddard; sister, Jenny Sanchez, Derby; 10 grandchilddren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by infant sons; David Wayne and Roger Neil; brothers, Manuel, Fred and John Gonzales and sister, Margaret Gonzales.
The Rsary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday, December 29. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Monday, December 30, 2013, both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead with Father Edmond Kline officiatiing. Buurial will follow at Halstad Cemetery.
