Darla L. Nikkel, 49, died Friday (June 15, 2007) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born on May 22, 1958, in Newton to Orville and Pat Jones. She was a nurse at Larned State Hospital. She loved shopping, athletics, collecting Precious Moment figurines and Santas.
Survivors include a son, Ryan Nikkel; a daughter, Kylee (Nikkel) Nikkel; mother, Pat Jones; a sister, Mona Abney; and grandmother, Garnett Schulz, all of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Bryan Jones.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Chapel in Newton with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hesston United Methodist Church in Hesston with the Rev. Tom Schneider officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial may be made in lieu of flowers to Darla Nikkel Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
