O. R. Welch, veteran Hutchinson merchant, died at Barnes hospital, St. Louis, at 8:45 p.m. Monday [July 1].
He had been operated on last Saturday after a week’s illness and died of pneumonia.
Mr. Welch was born Dec. 19, 1867 in Attica, Iowa. He was a merchant at Burrton before moving to Hutchinson in 1910 and was in the shoe business here for 34 years.
Mr. Welch is survived by his widow, Mertie, of the home, 611 East A; a daughter, Mrs. George Ultch Jr., Kansas City; a son, Perry, associated with his father in the shoe store; a sister, Mary, Hutchinson; and two grandchildren.
