Edward Kasper

SEDGWICK -- Edward Kasper, 81, retired welder and machinist for the Santa Fe Railroad, died Tuesday (April 7, 1998) at Sedgwick Healthcare Center in Sedgwick.

He was born May 30, 1916, in Moundridge to Robert and Emma Hill Kasper. He married Ruby S. Adrian Sept. 17, 1939, in Newton. She survives.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being outdoors.

Other survivors include: six sons, Charles E. Kasper and Harold L. Kasper, both of Claremore, Okla., Jerry R. Kasper, Donald D. Kasper and Bill S. Kasper, all of Newton and Roy D. Kasper of Burrton; two daughters, Delores J. Schmidt of Lehigh and Doris A. Miller of Newton; two brothers, Richard "Bud" Kasper of Bedford, Ind., and Daniel Kasper of El Dorado; three sisters, Janice Fressler of Bloomington, Ind., Dorothy Holland of Wichita and Margaret Wingo of Newton; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Crawford.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton with the Rev. Vern Bender from People's Bible Baptist Church in Newton. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until noon Saturday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
