Isabel Jane Overman
Isabel Jane Overman, 89, retired LPN,
died Friday (April 10, 1998) at her Newton residence.
She was born Nov. 3, 1908, in Wichita
to Frederick E. and Ivy Mae (Hall) Wilkinson. She married Walter V.
Overman in August 1927 in Mt. Hope. He preceded her in death Oct. 31,
1985.
She was a member of the Meridian
Baptist Church in Newton. She was a Red Cross and Union Rescue
Mission of Wichita volunteer. She enjoyed knitting newborn caps and
booties for hospitals and Heartland Pregnancy Care Center. She played
the organ for various churches during her life.
Survivors include: one son, Vernon
Overman of Newton; two daughters, Joyce Huff of Branson, Mo., and
Phyllis Buxton of Nixa, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one
brother, one sister and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at the Meridian Baptist Church in Newton with the Revs.
Jerroll Martens and Scott Kliewer presiding. Burial will be at 3:30
p.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mt. Hope. Friends may call
from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to noon
Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Memorials have been established with
Heartland Pregnancy Care Center in Newton and the American Red Cross
in care of the funeral home.
