Emma L. Stern, 89, homemaker, died Sunday, November 20, 1924 at her residence in Burrton.
She was born May 20. 19924 at Goodridge, Minnesota to John O. and Anna Aase Hoyum. She was a resident of Burrton since 1976 and wass a former Halstead resident. She was a member of Halstead Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star Chapter 5 Newton and was president of the Burrton Library Board.
On June 21, 1947 she married Forrest D. Stern at Lawrence. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1989.
Survivors: daughter, Karla (Kim) Emmonds, Topeka; grandsons; Kris (Kelly) Emmons, Topeka; Brian Emmons, Cloverdale, California and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers; Martin and Edwin Hoyum; sisters, Margaret Holt; Clara Loer; Lydia Owen and Alfrieda Yearout.
Memorials may be given to the Burrton Public Library.
