Richard C. Morgan Sr., 89, 1200 E.
Seventh, maintenance at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, died Sunday
(April 26, 1998) at Presbyterian Manor in Newton.
He was born July 19, 1908, in Newton to
Ashton E. Morgan and Effie M. (Smith) Morgan. He married Catherine
Margaret Bernard Nov. 21, 1931, in Kansas City, Kan. She preceded him
in death Aug. 6, 1996.
He was a member of the First United
Presbyterian Church in Newton. He attended the University of Missouri
for three years and was a recipient for the Newton High School Hall
of Fame Award. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United
States Navy.
Survivors include: one son, Richard C.
Morgan Jr., of Newton; three daughters, Mary Patricia "Pat"
Kaufman of Wichita, Gail Morgan of Chicago, Ill., and Gwen Suderman
of Newton; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He also
was preceded in death by one brother, Cliff Morgan; and one sister,
Helen Hobbs.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home with the Rev. James W. Anderson
from First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in the
Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9
a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with
the Newton High School Hall of Fame or Presbyterian Manor employee
fund in care of the funeral home.
