Mary E. Garcia
Mary E. Garcia, 57, retired K-mart
associate, of Newton died Sunday (May 3, 1998) at her daughter's home
in Wichita.
She was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Newton
to Epifano and Elena (Vega) Arellano. On Dec. 14, 1991, she married
Guadalupe Garcia in Wichita. He survives.
She was a member of Our Lady of
Guadalupe Church in Newton.
Other survivors include six sons, Mike
Gutierrez, Alfred Gutierrez, Kenny Gutierrez and Richard Gutierrez,
all of Wichita, Julian Arellano of Newton and Albert Arellano of
Hutchinson; four daughters, Debbie Torres, Kathy Pruett, Bethany
Rojas and Arlene Haywood, all of Wichita; four step-sons, Richard
Garcia of Phoenix, Steven Garcia and Clem Garcia, both of Newton, and
Timothy Garcia of Australia; three step-daughters, Cindy Becker and
Annette Garcia, both of Newton, and Trudy Waldey of Marina del Rey,
Calif.; 15 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and two
step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents and three brothers, Raymond, Chino and Lazaro Arellano.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Newton. Funeral mass will be at 10
a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Father John Hotze
of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church officiating. Burial will be in St.
Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral
Home in Newton.
Memorials have been established with
Hospice Inc. of Wichita in care of the funeral home.
