Lloyd C. Young
COUNCIL GROVE -- Lloyd C. Young, 86,
died Saturday (May 2, 1998) at Twin Lakes Healthcare Center in
Council Grove.
He was born Aug. 11, 1911, in Halstead
to H. Clyde and Edith Mae Chapple Young. He graduated from Halstead
High School in 1930. He married Wilda Mae Pierce On Oct. 18, 1935, in
Newton. She survives
He farmed in Halstead, Eureka and
Clements. He was a John Deere mechanic in Strong City before moving
to Council Grove in 1953. He and his wife purchased the John Deere
dealership in Council Grove. They retired in 1976.
Other survivors include: four sons,
Richard Young of Wichita, George Young of Council Grove, James Young
of Independence, and David Young of Cumming, Ga.; two daughters,
Eleanor Garrett of Omaha, Neb., and Elaine Bentz of Hutchinson; one
brother, Leo Young of Halstead; one sister, Rena Honn of Arkansas
City; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one step-grandson;
and one aunt, Bess Chapple of Hesston.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; two brothers, Ray Young and Hiram Young; and one aunt, Edna
Chapple.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Council Grove. Burial will
follow in Sunny Slope Memorial Gardens in Council Grove. Visitation
will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kendall Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to
the First Baptist Church in Council Grove or Hand-In-Hand Homecare
and Hospice in Emporia in care of the funeral home.
