Elmer O. Harms
Elmer O. Harms, 84, 515 Allison,
retired stockman and farmer, died Tuesday (May 5, 1998) at Newton
Medical Center.
He was born May 26, 1913, in Whitewater
to Henry P. Harms and Susie (Ewert) Harms. He married Beathene Balzer
on Oct. 17, 1936, at Grace Hill Church in rural Newton. She survives
of Newton.
He attended Koerner Heights Church of
the Mennonite Brethren in Newton. He moved from the Whitewater area
to Newton in July 1968.
Other survivors include: one son, Byron
Harms of Pamona; two sisters, Lydia Schmidt of Elbing and Zelda
"Sally" Schmidt of Newton; and one grandchild. He was
preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Harms, Alfred Harms and
Albert Harms; and three sisters, Dora, Edna and Gussia.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Friday at Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren with David
Plett and Andrew Nachtigal officiating. Burial will be in the
Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to
9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with
Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren or American Diabetes
Association in care of the funeral home.
