Dave Friesen
HESSTON -- Dave Friesen, 81, died
Thursday (May 7, 1998) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
Friesen, a former Harvey County
Commissioner for seven years and farmer, was born Nov. 30, 1916 in
McPherson County to Issac L. and Helena (Thiessen) Friesen. He
married Rubena Schmidt on June 7, 1940 at Hoffnungsau Mennonite
Church in rural Inman. She survives of Hesston.
A lifelong Harvey County resident,
Friesen moved to Hesston in 1984. He served on the Buhler School
Board for 17 years. He was a member of Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church
and active in the church.
Other survivors include daughter Janet
Regier of University Park, Md.; son Jim Friesen of Littleton, Colo.;
three sisters, Martha Ediger of Inman; Margaret Balzer of Inman and
Rose Siemens of Shafter, Calif.; a brother, John Friesen of Buhler;
and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, a brother, Ike Friesen; and a sister, Mary Thiesen.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m.
Monday at Hoffnungsau Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at
2:30 p.m. at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church with Pastor Dean
Linsenmeyer.
Calling times are 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at
the Buhler Mortuary in Buhler with the family present from 2 to 4
p.m.
