Mary P. Smith

Mary P. Smith, 55, homemaker, 426 S.W. Fourth, died Friday (May 29, 1998) at her residence.

She was born Sept. 9, 1942, in Newton to Lewis L. and Mary E. (Shank) Humphrey Sr. She married Lloyd D. Smith on Oct. 30, 1958, in Newton. He preceded her in death June 7, 1977.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 2516 in Newton.

Other survivors include: companion, Lynndon R. Dossey of Newton; three sons, David D. Smith, Gary L. Smith and Michael E. Smith, all of Newton; one daughter, Carol S. Peterson of Peabody; one brother, Lewis L. Humphrey Jr., of Newton; one half-sister, Carolyn Dewayer of Florida; and 11 grandchildren. She had one sister, Alice Hensley of Bloomfield, Ohio, who died Saturday (May 30, 1998.)

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rusty Bonham from First Mennonite Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with the Central Homecare and Hospice in care of the funeral home.
