Lewis L. Humphrey
Lewis L. Humphrey, 79, 706 E. 11th, lifetime Newton resident, died Friday (Feb. 25, 1994) at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Newton to Jesse and Zella Gallahur [Golliher] Humphrey. He married Lorraine Elswick. She survives of Newton.
He was a former Santa Fe Railway employee and Prestress Concrete, Inc. watchman.
Other survivors include three sons, Lewis L. Humphrey Jr. of Newton, Claude Nelson Jr. of Canton and Wayne Nelson of Florence Ky.; four daughters, Mary Pearl Smith of Newton, Alice Hensley of Bloomington, Ohio, Loretta Cooley and Wanda Kipp, both of Newton; one brother, Chester Humphrey of Eugene Ore.; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peterson's Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Louise MacClanahan, Chaplain at Newton Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 9 pm. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
