Philip W. Gibbens Sr.
Philip W. Gibbens Sr., 78, 1010 S. Kansas, retired Santa Fe Railway machinist and Gibbens Auto Supply Inc. employee, died Sunday in Chetek, Wisc.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Petersen's Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Fred Spinder officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
He was born Nov 17, 1900, in Newton, the son of William Osborn and Mary S. Gibbens. His wife, Pearl V., died in 1958.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Harvey County Historical Society.
Survivors include five sons, William E. "Bill", and Ralph E. "Gene", both of Newton, Philip W. "Buzz" Jr. Olathe, James E. "Jim", Valley Center, and David W. "Beaver", Lenexa; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Barbara Huebert, Derby, and Mrs. Naomi Pearl Drake, Newton; one brother, W. O. "Bud" Wichita; one sister, Mary Gibbens, Chicago, Ill.; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memroial has been established for the church.
