Bill GIbbens
Bill Gibbens, 71, 609 S. E. Fourth, died Tuesday (June 18, 1996) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born June 3, 1925, in Newton to Philip William Gibbens and Pearl Vidella Leech Gibbens. He married Lillie Franklin on March 23, 1946, in Philadelphia. She survives.
He was a retired machinist for Beech Aircraft and a member of the World Wide Church of God., both of Wichita. He was a U. S. Army veteran.
Other survivors include one son, Donald W. Gibbens of Newton; one daughter, Dorothy L. Bryant of Goddard; three brothers, "Buzz" Philip W. Gibbens Jr. of Olathe, "Butch" David W. Gibbens of Newton and James Edward Gibbens of Goddard; two sisters, Ruth Huebert of Derby and Naomi Pearl Drake of Newton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Eugene Gibbens.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Church of God in Newton with Dr. Charles Calahan of the World Wide Church of God in Wichita officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Peterson's Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to the Harvey County Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
