Doris C. Hudspeth
Doris C. Hudspeth, 85, 3001 Ivy Drive
in North Newton, homemaker and employed by Kinder and Congoleum
Manufacturer Co. as a seamstress, died Friday (June 5, 1998) at
Newton Medical Center.
She was born July 14, 1912, in Amber,
Okla., to C.P. and Katherine (Wallace) Holcomb. She married Robert E.
Hudspeth on Sept. 19, 1930, in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in
death.
She was a member of the Immanuel
Baptist Church in Newton. She moved to Mt. View, Mo., to Newton in
1967. She and her husband were owners of several businesses.
Survivors include: two daughters,
Imogene Duncan and Karen Van Horn, both of Newton; one honorary
daughter, Barbara Cassil of Newton; eight grandchildren; 18
great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She also was
preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Holcomb and Roy Holcomb;
one grandson, Jimmy Duncan; and three sisters, Velma King, Vivian
Phillips, and Ruby Stringfield.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Foley and Pastor
Enoch Duncan from Zion Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial
will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton. Friends may call
until 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home. Family will greet
friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
