Nellie V. Bentz
PEABODY -- Nellie V. Bentz, 89, died
Saturday (June 6, 1998) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 15, 1909, in
Southside, Tenn., to Nute and Mollie Weems. She married James W.
Edmonds on Sept. 2, 1928. He preceded her in death July 28, 1949. She
married Harold M. Bentz on May 20, 1955. He also preceded her in
death March 3, 1981.
She came from Tennessee at the age of
12. She had spent all her years in Kansas except for 10 years in
Oklahoma where she and her husband lived in Seminole in the oil
fields. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and collecting dolls. She
was very active in her church.
Survivors include; three daughters,
Ginny Apollo of Lindsborg, Wanda Janzen of Wichita and Patty Ridenour
of Oklahoma City; four sons, Glenn Edmonds of Loveland, Colo., Gene
Edmonds of Austin, Texas, Jerry Edmonds of Colorado Springs, Colo.,
and Larry Edmonds of Newton; two sisters, Evie May Reidel of Matfield
Green and Mary Thomas of Wichita; 21 grandchildren; 33
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Peabody with Roger Charles
officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Baker Funeral Home in
Peabody.
