Orlo W. Welch
Orlo W. Welch, 85, of Newton died
Wednesday (June 17, 1998) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
He was born May 27, 1913, in Turon to
William Wesley and Alice M. (Compton) Welch. He married Velma I.
Kelley on May 22, 1937, in Emporia. She survives of Newton.
He was a member of the Eastside United
Methodist Church in Newton. He was a former member of Turon United
Methodist Church and was active in Sunday school and church
positions. He was a member of Turon Lions Club, Turon Chamber of
Commerce, Turon School Board, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4-H Club, Turon
Saddle Club and Rebel Riders Saddle Club of Canyon City, Colo.
He was a graduate of Turon High School
and was a foreman with the Gas Service Company for more than 30
years. For 14 years, he was a bus driver for a school for the
handicapped in Canyon City, Colo.
Other survivors include: one son,
Robert W. Welch of Wichita; two daughters, Jacquelyn Hansen of rural
Cheney, and Patricia Moran of Sausalito, Calif.; two brothers, Dale
Welch and Earl Welch, both of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; three foster daughters, Phyllis Becker of Argos,
Ind., Rosemarie Strong of Beatrice, Neb., and Linda Desautels of
Denver; six foster grandchildren; and three foster
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two
brothers, Donald Welch and Keith Welch; and two sisters, Neva Wiswell
and Reta Nester.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Monday at Turon Community Church with the Revs. Keith C. Welch Jr.
and Clarence Bean officiating. Burial will be in Turon Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Colonial
Funeral Home in Newton.

United Methodist Church in Newton, "Fellowship of John" at
Kansas Christian Home in Newton or Turon Senior Center in care of the
funeral home.
