Elsie Flaming
GOESSEL -- Elsie Flaming, 82,
homemaker, school bus driver for USD 411 in Goessel and van driver
for Northview Developmental Services in Newton, died today (June 23,
1998) at Bethesda Home in Goessel.
She was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Marion
County to Peter J. and Katherina (Unruh) Schmidt. She married Jacob
G. Flaming on Oct. 9, 1937, at Goessel. He survives of Bethesda Home
in Goessel.
She was a member of the Alexanderwohl
Mennonite Church. She quilted for many people in the Goessel area.
They lived on a farm near Goessel until moving to Goessel in 1991.
Other survivors include: three sons,
Dennis J. Flaming and Alan P. (Pete) Flaming, both of rural Goessel
and Duane S. Flaming of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Kathleen Sue
Flaming of Newton; one brother, Rannie H. Schmidt of rural Newton;
one sister, Dorothy Franz of Lind, Wash.; six grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church with the Rev. Mark Wiens
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call
from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel. The
family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral
home.
