Cordell Thompson Griffith
HUTCHINSON -- Cordell Thompson
Griffith, 95, homemaker, died Saturday (June 27, 1998) at Dillon
Living Center in Hutchinson.
She was born March 23, 1903, in
Robertsville, Mo., to William D. and Mary E. (Rucker) Thompson. She
married Fred G. Griffith on June 13, 1925, in Eaton, Colo. He
preceded her in death July 26, 1988.
She was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Newton, Social Order of the Beauceant, Order of the Eastern
Star, Tol Tec organization and Harvey County Senior Citizens. She was
a Newton resident since 1929, moving from Eaton, Colo., and has
resided at the Dillon Living Center since 1993.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert W.
Griffith of Garden Grove, Calif., and Donald L. Griffith of Owasso,
Okla.; four daughters, Wilma F. Perkins of Lakeside, Calif., Virginia
F. Schmidt of Redwood City, Calif., Barbara J. Born of Gladstone,
Mo., and Judy A. Hill of Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren; 22
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also was
preceded in death by one son, Fred G. Griffith Jr.; one brother,
Shelby Thompson; two sisters, Churchill Marshall and Gladys Thompson;
and one great-grandson, Daniel Rand.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerroll Martens
from Meridian Baptist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be in
the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with
the Newton Salvation Army in care of the funeral home.
