Gilbert C. Hoffman
Gilbert C. "Gib" Hoffman, 84,
cowboy and retired construction superintendent for Sherwood
Construction, Wichita, died Wednesday (July 15, 1998) at the Southern
Hills Nursing Home in Tulsa, Okla.
He was born March 20, 1914, in Newton
to Jacob William and Ella (Wenger) Hoffman. He was a graduate of
Hesston High School. He married Loucetta Egy on April 9, 1939, in
Newton. She preceded him in death in December 1992. He married Betty
Ann Crawford on Aug. 19, 1994, in Shidler, Okla. She preceded him in
death Aug. 20, 1997.
He was a member of the Shidler First
United Methodist Church and the Shidler Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed
singing in the church choir, gardening, carpentry, making wooden
toys, baking bread, church activities and playing cards at the
Shidler Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include: three daughters,
Judy K. Masters of Medicine Lodge, Lou Ann Hoffman of Tulsa, Okla.,
and Cathy Hoffman of Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Robert M. Hoffman
of Woodward, Okla.; one sister, Mary Glennis Curto of Albuquerque,
N.M.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: two brothers,
Phillip M. Hoffman and William Jacob Hoffman; and one sister, Hazel
Long.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Foraker Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Smith, pastor
of First United Methodist Church of Pawhuska, Okla., officiating.
Internment will be in the Foraker Cemetery under the direction of
Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home, Fairfax, Okla. Friends may call at the
Shidler Chapel, Shidler, Okla. until Saturday morning.
