Myrtle Thut
Myrtle Thut, 80, 3001 Ivy Drive in
North Newton, homemaker, died Monday (Aug. 3, 1998) at Via Christi
Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus.
She was born July 18, 1918, in Kearney,
Neb., to William Fox and Lillian (Sampson) Fox. She married Roland E.
Pracht in 1939 in Cottonwood Falls. He preceded her in death Aug. 14,
1954. She married Abram Thut on May 15, 1956, in Emporia. He survives
of North Newton.
She lived 57 years in Elmdale and one
year in North Newton. She taught 30 children in a one room school
house.
She was a member of Eastside United
Methodist Church in Newton.
Other survivors include: one daughter,
Bonnie J. Brickhouse of Topeka; one son, Ronald D. Pracht of Newton;
five sisters, Rosie Griggs of Hutchinson, Lillie Lower and Mildred
Rhoades, both of Topeka, Lucille Osgood of Fruitland, Idaho, and
Elnora Phillips of Madison; seven grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one sister,
Minnie Goodell, and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Friday at East Side United Methodist Church with the Rev. J. Ray
Swearingen officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m.
Friday in the Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood Falls.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with
the Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association and East Side
United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
