Warren D Mathews
Warren D. Mathews, 82, died Friday (Nov. 28, 2003) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born May 24, 1921, to Horace Niles and Gold Anna (Ramsden) Mathews in Kinsley. They preceded him in death.
He married Lois Lochridge Aug. 15, 1969. She preceded him in death Dec. 13, 2000.
He worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita and retired from Boeing Aircraft as a fabricator. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Median Temple and the Harvey County Shrine Club. He was a member of First United Church of Christ in Newton.
Survivors include: two sons, Michael Mathews of Kansas City, Mo., and Randy Mathews of Newton; two daughters, Judith Carter of Newton and Donna Rodriques of Grover Beach, Calif.; four brothers, Bill Mathews of Whitewater; Larry Mathews of Newton, and Loren Mathews and Murwyn Mathews, both of Oregon; three sisters, Elaine Davis of Newton, and Marilyn Mathews and Glenna Stucky, both of Wichita; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by: a brother, Horace Niles Mathews Jr.; a sister, Adis Kay Mathews; and a stepmother, Cora Mathews.
Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 pm. at Petersen Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Hickerson of First United Church of Christ officiating.
Memorials have been established with Newton Meals on Wheels and First United Church of Christ, both in care of the funeral home.
