Gene L. Wedel
MOUNDRIDGE -- Gene L. Wedel, 78, former
employee of Excel Industries, died Tuesday (Sept. 8, 1998) at
Columbia Halstead Hospital.
He was born Feb. 26, 1920, in McPherson
County to Jacob J. and Maria T. (Krehbiel) Wedel. He married Jean E.
Schmitt on April 27, 1941, in Halstead. She survives of Moundridge.
He was a lifetime Moundridge resident
and a member of the First Mennonite Church of Christian in
Moundridge.
Other survivors include: one brother,
Vernon Wedel of Halstead; two sisters, Marjorie Graber of Moundridge
and Lois Medley of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; and one grandchild. He was
preceded in death by one son, James Wedel; one daughter, Janet Wedel;
one brother, Robert Wedel; and one sister, Betty Wedel.
Graveside services will be at 10:15
a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church Cemetery followed by a memorial
service at 11 a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church of Christian with
Pastor Gordon Allaby officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m.
Thursday at Harder-Kaufman Funeral Home in Moundridge.
Memorials have been established with
First Mennonite Church of Christian in care of the funeral home.
