Charles Louis Eberhard
HALSTEAD -- Charles Louis Eberhard, 83,
retired farmer and stockman northeast of Peabody for 44 years, died
Sunday (Sept. 13, 1998) in Halstead.
He was born Aug. 11, 1915, in Butler
County, east of Elbing, to Emma (Schroke) Eberhard and Louis Frederic
Eberhard. He married Neysa on April 22, 1946, in Emporia. She
survives of Newton.
Charles attended rural schools in
Butler and Marion County graduating from Peabody High School and
Wichita Business College.
He returned from working in the
California Citrus industry to operate the family farm.
He also served as East Branch Township
Clerk, Marion County Farm Bureau Board member, Marion County
Extension advisory council with service as treasurer and chairman;
4-H project leader of Peabody Hustlers, Peabody Co-op board, with a
term as president; St. Paul's Lutheran Church council, with a term as
president, and as a member of the Doyle Creek Watershed board. A
dedicated conservationist, he was one of the early recipients of the
Soil Conservation District Banker's Award.
In 1986, Charles and his wife moved to
Newton. He continued his ties to farming operations, working with his
son Terril, who managed the family farm.
Survivors include: one son, Terril Lynn
Eberhard of Peabody; one brother Paul Eberhard of Salina; and a
family of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at Petersen's Funeral Home Chapel.

home.
