Leslie Shawver
GOESSEL -- Leslie Shawver, 69,
policeman, died Friday (Sept. 18, 1998) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born July 2, 1929, in Weston, W.
Va., to Wyatt and Dena Shawver. He married Virginia Wyman Oct. 11,
1952, in Larned. She survives of Goessel.
He lived in Larned for 26 years,
Halstead for 10 years, Newton for two years and Goessel for four
years, where he was a policeman for three years. He was a member of
the First Christian Church in Newton and past member of Goessel Lions
Club.
He served as a U.S. Navy veteran during
the Korean conflict.
Other survivors include: two daughters,
Susan R. Brown of Dallas and Sandra Jackson of Leavenworth; three
sisters, Shirley Rathgeber of Fairfax Station, Va., Marie Wolfe of
West Virginia and Marty Zellem of Kileen, Texas; and two
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Funeral services were today at First
Christian Church in Newton with Pastor MyCherie Zimmerman
officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in the City
of Larned Cemetery in Larned.

First Christian Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
