Wilma Lee Gates
WICHITA -- Wilma Lee Gates, 72, artist
and substitute teacher, died Sept. 2, 1998, after a long illness at
her home in Wichita.
She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Newton
to Harlan and Susan Clegg. She married Richard L. Gates. He preceded
her in death.
She was a 1943 graduate of Newton High
School and lived most of her life in the Newton and Wichita areas.
Survivors include: one son, Richard
Gates of Elmendorg Air Force Base in Alaska; one daughter, Jessica
Pennewell of Lawrence; one brother, Don Clegg of Abbottstown, Pa.;
two sisters, Katie Goering of Derby and Ruthie Reed of Arkansas City;
four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial service were Sept. 15, 1998,
at Cochran Mortuary in Wichita.
