Harold W. Orndoff
Harold W. Orndoff, 87, 210 S.W. Fourth,
communications technician for Santa Fe Railroad for 30 years, died
Sunday (Sept. 27, 1998) at Kansas Christian Home.
He was born Dec. 17, 1910, to John O.
and Edith M. (Debolt) Orndoff in Plainsville. He married Myrtle Mae
Culbertson in 1930 in Wichita. She preceded him in death in 1974. He
married Edith Horst Aug. 9, 1974, in Newton. She survives of Newton.
He worked for Boeing and was a member
of the Kansas National Guard during World War II. He was the first
person with Santa Fe to acquire a top radio license. He enjoyed
trains and was a ham radio operator. He was a tape minister and
Sunday School teacher for Nazarene Church.
Other survivors include: three sons,
Marvin W. Orndoff of Kansas City, Kan., Warren D. Orndoff of
Melbourne, Fla., and Chester W. Orndoff of Titusville, Fla.; two
daughters, Murle J. Cibulski of Topeka, Romona N. Copp of Auburn, and
Anita L. Gaede of Calimesa, Calif.; one sister, Juanita Jernigan of
Tulsa, Okla.; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and eight
great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; two brothers, Donald and Herbert Orndoff; and two sisters,
Clenna Gibson and Margaret Van Bibber.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene in Newton with Pastor Larry
D. Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Kechi Cemetery in Kechi.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home. Memorial
has been established with First Church of the Nazarene in care of
Petersen Funeral Home.
