Frieda K. Kosminski

Frieda K. Kosminski, 89, retired nurse aide at the former Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton, died Thursday (Oct. 8, 1998) at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton.

She was born Sept. 18, 1909, in Newton to John P. and Anna (Abrams) Wiens. She married Andrew J. Kosminski Jan. 25, 1928, in Marion. He preceded her in death Aug. 2, 1966.

She was a member of the First Mennonite Church and also a member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary, both of Newton.

Survivors include: one son, Lynn R. Kosminski of Newton; three daughters, Jean Grochowsky of Newton, Virginia "Ginger" Freach of St. John and Gladys Darwezhe of Corona, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Vivian Chapman; two brothers, John "Jack" Wiens and Sam Wiens; and one sister, Helen Reimer.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery with Chaplain Amanda Rempel from Kidron Bethel Village officiating. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
