Deceased Name: Leslie E. Androes

Leslie E. Androes, 84, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 25, 2007) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

He was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Delaware, Okla., the son of Peter and Mary (Pauls) Androes. He is preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Margaret Androes.

He married Dorothy J. Clothier on Aug. 4, 1946, in Newton. She survives of the home.

He served under General Patton with the 3rd Army in Europe during World War II and was reactivated and served in the Korean conflict. He was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star in Europe and two Bronze Stars in Korea.

He was employed by Dow Chemical Company and retired following 31 years of service.

Together with his loving wife of 61 years, he traveled the U.S. extensively. He was active in his church and served as a deacon. He was a member of the American Legion and the Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon (Androes) and Bruce Heath of Norman, Okla.; son, Steven Androes of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandsons, John Edmunds and Christopher, Brandon and Kyle Androes; granddaughter, Danielle Androes; great-grandson, Josiah Androes; brothers, Paul and Williard Androes; and sisters Betty Harmony, Dorothy Foust, Melba Langenegger and Mary Lou Schmidt.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Newton, with the Rev. Gary Bell officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Memorial contributions can be made to First Christian Church or Kansas Christian Home in care of the funeral home.
