Lillian E. Wert Schmidt
Lillian E. Wert Schmidt, 83, died
Thursday (Oct. 15, 1998) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community in
Newton.
She was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Newton
to Joseph L. and Sarah Ann (Hulpiew) Wert. She married Abe R. Schmidt
Feb. 23, 1933 in Newton. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1992. She
was a housewife, a nurse's aide in area hospitals and child care
provider in many Newton homes.
Before she moved to Friendly Acres
Retirement Community nine years ago, she lived at 920 High Street in
Newton. She was a lifelong Newton resident. She was a member of
Calvary Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include: two sons, Jerry L.
Schmidt of Paola and Richard D. Schmidt of Arkansas Pass, Texas;
seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; one son, Arthur Schmidt; one grandson; seven brothers; and
three sisters.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at
Greenwood Cemetery. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
Friendly Acres Retirement Community in care of the funeral home.
