Henry O. German Jr.

VALLEY CENTER -- Henry O. German Jr., 81, died today (Oct. 28, 1998) at Sedgwick Healthcare Center in Sedgwick.

He was born June 9, 1917, in Kingman County to Henry O. German Sr. and Alta (Dunn) German. He married Hazel L. Weyand Aug. 24, 1944, in Canton. She survives of Newton.

He was a tool maker for Boeing Aircraft, Steerman and Koch Industries, retiring at the age of 73. He also farmed for many years near Canton.

He was a member of Canton United Methodist Church in Canton and National Wood Carvers Association.

He was raised in Canton, moving to Valley Center in 1957. He enjoyed wood carving, where he won several area awards. He was a graduate of Canton High School. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.

Other survivors include one daughter, Beth Spradling of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. Tal Tittsworth from First United Methodist Church in Valley Center officiating. Burial will be in the Canton Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Canton United Methodist Church, American Lung Association and Central Homecare and Hospice Inc., in care of the funeral home.
