Sarah Ellen Brown
Sarah Ellen Brown, 89, 405 E. Fourth,
retired sales clerk for J.C. Penney Co. in Newton, died Saturday
(Nov. 8, 1998) at her home.
She was born Sept. 8, 1909, in
Gatewood, Mo., to Samuel and Mahalia (Hawkam) Holland. She married
Claude E. Brown Sept. 14, 1925, in Donaphin, Mo. He preceded her in
death May 5, 1985.
She was a member of the Newton Church
of God. She was a gardener and seamstress and enjoyed making fabric
handicrafts and furniture upholstery.
Survivors include: two daughters, L.
Edith Heidebrecht of Newton and Alta E. Brock of Wichita; eight
grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one
sister, four brothers, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m.
Tuesday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Newton with the
Rev. David Mitzel officiating.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at
Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.

Church of God in care of the funeral home.
