Louise Regier
HESSTON -- Louise Johnston Regier, 81,
homemaker and teacher, died Saturday (Nov. 7, 1998) at Schowalter
Villa in Hesston.
She was born Sept. 2, 1917, in
Covington, Ohio, to Myrl C. and Mellie (Claggett) Johnston. She
married Herbert H. Regier Sept. 28, 1941, in Monte Vista, Colo. He
survives.
She was a member of Balmoral
Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tenn. She was former President of
American Association of University Women Memphis Chapter in 1987 to
1988, State of Tennessee Secretary AAUW in 1989, High School teacher
and guidance counselor in Memphis, Tenn., at Northside High School in
Memphis City Schools. She received her associates art degree from
Hutchinson Junior College in Hutchinson, her bachelor of arts degree
in English from University of Kentucky and master of arts degree in
counseling and guidance from the University of Memphis.
She was Miss Ski Hi Stampede in Monte
Vista, Colo., in 1940. She also was former President of U.S. China
Peoples Friendship Association Memphis Branch from 1985 to 1986. She
devoted her time to other organizations and frequently to the Memphis
Interfaith Association. She had lived in Nathrop, Colo., and Monte
Vista, Colo.
Other survivors include: two sons,
Jerry C. Regier of University Park, Md., and Tim Regier of Miami; and
two grandchildren, Emily Regier and Jeffrey Regier, both of
University Park, Md. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Buhler Municipal Cemetery in Buhler with Chaplain Mary
Dyck officiating. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at
Bethel College Mennonite Church with Pastor Norma Johnson from Bethel
College Mennonite Church, Chaplain Mary Dyck from Schowalter Villa in
Hesston and Chaplain supervisor Rev. Dr. Lee C. Waltz from Veterans
Association Hospital in Memphis officiating.
Friends may call until 5 p.m. today and
from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
