Harold D. Phipps
Harold D. Phipps, 78, 809 Allison,
retired parts manager for Avcon Industries, died Sunday (Nov. 8,
1998) at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus.
He was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Wichita
to Jack and Olive (Murphy) Williamson. His father preceded him in
death when he was 2 years old. His mother married Albert Phipps, and
he was adopted by his step-father. He married Fern L. Hayes Sept. 18,
1944, in Enid, Okla. She survives of Newton.
He was a member of the St. Luke
Presbyterian Church in Newton. He lived in Whitewater. He also lived
in Wichita, moving to Newton in 1964.
Other survivors include: one son, James
Phipps of Yucaipa, Calif.; two daughters, Robin Pinkerton of Newton
and Rita Sadowski of Grantville; one brother, Michael Phipps of
Pepperell, Mass.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six
step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. He also was
preceded in death by his mother and step-father and one brother, Jack
Phipps.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Keazirian
from St. Luke Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in
Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9
a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.

St. Luke Presbyterian Church in care of the funeral home.
