Dr. Earl R. Sheets
Dr. Earl R. Sheets, 84, 316 Morningside
Lane, retired dentist and licensed oral surgeon, died Sunday (Nov.
22, 1998) at his home in Newton.
He was born July 8, 1914, in Strong
City to James E. and Gladys (Jones) Sheets. He married Doris B. Lee
Jan. 12, 1946, in Kansas City. She preceded him in death in 1976.
He practiced for more than 50 years in
Newton as a dentist and licensed oral surgeon, retiring in 1987. He
was a 1932 graduate of Newton High School. He was a member of the
Newton Masonic Lodge No. 142 AF & AM, 32 Degree Mason, Midian
Shrine, B.P.O.E. of Newton (Elks Lodge), Kansas Dental Association,
American Dental Association, VFW and American Legion. He served in
the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He also served
with 37th Infantry Division in the Pacific as a dental officer. He
also was a 1938 graduate of Kansas City Western Dental College
(KUMC).
Survivors include two sons, Maxwell J.
Sheets of Pierre, S.D., and Michael A. Sheets of Wichita; and three
grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery with Newton Masonic Lodge No. 142 AF
& AM officiating.
