Melissa May McCorkle
Melissa May McCorkle, 26, 3300 N.E.
24th, Wal-Mart associate in Newton, died Monday (Dec. 7, 1998) at
I-135 and Highway 50 intersection in Newton.
She was born Aug. 31, 1972, in Mt. Ayr,
Iowa, to Wayne Lee Sr. and Hattie May (Burns) Bond. Her father
survives of Wichita. Her mother survives of Tribune. She married
Wayman N. McCorkle May 24, 1997, at First Christian Church in Newton.
He survives of Newton.
She was a member of First Christian
Church in Newton, where she was a kindergarten Sunday School teacher.
She was a 1991 graduate of Greeley County High School in Tribune and
a 1992 graduate of Goodland Vo-Tech School of Cosmetology.
Other survivors include: one son, Colby
Jakob McCorkle of Newton; two brothers, H. Dewayne Bond of Tribune
and Lee Bond of Hoisington; and paternal grandmother, Frances Bond of
Wichita. She was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Harold
Bond; maternal grandfather, Clarence Burns and maternal grandmother,
Doris Burns.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at First Christian Church with the Rev. MyCherie Zimmerman
officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may
call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
