Charles E. Sharp
Charles E. Sharp, 90, of North Newton,
retired owner and operator of Sharp Amusement Co., died Monday (Dec.
14, 1998) at Kidron Bethel Health Care.
He was born Feb. 4, 1908, in Tonganoxie
to George W. and Myrtle M. (Oliver) Sharp. He married Velda J. DeNoon
Oct. 3, 1931, in Hutchinson. She survives of Newton.
He was a member of First Christian
Church, Eagles and Elks and was former manager of the Elks Club.
After his retirement he owned Sharp's Small Appliance Repair and was
a pilot for Newton Flying Service. He moved to Newton in 1950 from
Hutchinson. He moved to Kidron Bethel Village March 30, 1998 from 406
E. Third in Newton.
Other survivors include: one son,
Norman L. Sharp of Wichita; two daughters, Shirlee Larsen of Blue
Springs, Mo., and Charlotte Stephens of Newton; two brothers, Jack
Sharp of St. Petersburg, Fla., and George Sharp of Kansas City; one
sister, Mary Wheatley of Kansas City; eight grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and
two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. MyCherie
Zimmerman from First Christian Church officiating. There will be a
private family burial. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
the funeral home.
Memorials have been established with
Kidron Bethel Village and American Diabetes Association in care of
the funeral home.
