Elma H. McProud

Elma H. McProud, 90, of Newton died Monday (Jan. 18, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born May 3, 1908, in Newton to Bernhard and Augusta (Epp) Regier. On July 11, 1943, she married Donald McProud in Newton.

She was a member of First Mennonite Church and was a teacher at Sunset Elementary School, teaching third grade for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She graduated from Bethel College and Kansas State University on her teaching certificate. Survivors include a son, John McProud of Lincoln, Neb.; her husband of Newton; a sister, Esther Zerger of Moundridge; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clarence Rempel of First Mennonite Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.
