Maude A. Hale
Maude A. Hale, 107, 1035 S.E. Third, retired co-owner of B and M
Newsstand, died Tuesday (Jan. 26, 1999) at Kansas Christian Home. She was born Nov. 15, 1891, in
Ashland, Neb., to James L. and Alice A. (Ramshaw) Owen. She married
Edmund S. Hale, Dec. 14, 1911, in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in
death Nov. 24, 1956. She was a member of First United Methodist
Church and Newton Rebekah Lodge, both of Newton. She was a member of
No. 305 Pomona Chapter Order of the Eastern Star for more than 75
years, past worthy matron and past president of the Women's Relief
Corp. She lived in Pomona until moving to Newton in 1950. Their were
no immediate survivors. She also was preceded in death by one son,
John Edmund Hale; and one sister, Ella Puckett. Graveside services
and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona
with the Rev. Francis Stockton from Trinity United Methodist Church
in Ottawa officiating. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at
Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Memorials have been established with
First United Methodist Church and Kansas Christian Home in care of
the funeral home.
