Vera A. McGuire

SEDGWICK -- Vera A. McGuire, 93, of Sedgwick died Friday (Feb. 19, 1999) at Sedgwick Healthcare Center. She was born April 7, 1905, in Maize to Enoch and Hettie (Anderson) Woolman. She married Don Day Johnson in 1924. He died in 1924. She married Harry McGuire in 1929. He died in 1958. She was owner and operator of McGuire Grocery in Wichita. She was a member of Sedgwick Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Wichita. Survivors include: a son, John G. McGuire of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Donna Arrowsmith of Sedgwick; a brother, Milton "Pat" Woolman of Phoenix; a sister, Opal Schmidt of Wichita; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd Woolman, Calvin Woolman and Ray Woolman; and three sisters, Truie Winters, Minnie Cain and Anna Belle Engle. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead with the Rev. James Mardock officiating. Burial will be in Maize Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kaufman Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Bentley United Methodist Church.
