John N. Birkle Jr.

HESSTON -- John N. Birkle Jr., 30, test and adjust technician for Excel Industries in Hesston, died Sunday (Feb. 21, 1999) at his residence in Hesston. He was born Sept. 9, 1968, in Newton to John N. Sr. and Susan K. (Ainsworth) Birkle. They survive of Newton. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton, Newton Saddle Club and registered with the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed camping, trailriding on horses, working on cars and building model cars, especially the older Chevys and Classics. Other survivors include: companion, Sandy McChesney of the home; one son, Daniel Jacob Birkle of Salt Lake City, Utah; one step-son, Shane McChesney of Newton; one step-daughter, Andrea McChesney of the home; one brother, Doug R. Birkle of Newton; four sisters, Bridget Lynn Miller of Goessel and Kathy Sue Birkle, Michelle Lea Birkle and Melody Ann Birkle, all of Newton; two nieces; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by two nephews. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton with the Rev. Ken Schuckman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established with Newton Saddle Club in care of the funeral home.
