Patterson, Jeanne Lorraianie Cox

   Tucson,, Arizona - Jeanne Lorraine Patterson (Cox) 96, died November 17, 2013 at Casa de la Luz Hospice, Tucson, Arizona.  She was a former resident of Halstead.  She was born June 19. 1917 at the original Halstead Hospital, daughter of Oswald and Walbert Mantele.  She graduated from Halstead High in 1935.  She received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Kansas iin 1939 and  was issued her Kansas State teacher's certificate of art and English the same year.

   She created the Halstead High School art department in 1968 and taught at Halstead High until she retired in 1980.  After retirement she spent considerable time in Arizona, where she was able to pursue her own paintng.   With dedicated effort, she became a Signature member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild.

   On August 17, 1943 she married Leland Wyant Cox who preceded her in death in 1994.  A son, Jeffry Cox, preceded her in death.

On March 22, 1090  she married Sidney Sterling Patterson,  He preceded her in death in 1994.

   Survivors: children, Carol (Gerald) Karches, Tuscon, Arizona; Steve (Roseanne) Cox of St. Charles, Missosuri; Craig (Therese) of Manhattan; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

   A memoriall Mass will be held January 18 at Sacred Heart Cathholiic Church, Halstead.  Inurnment will follow at Halstead Cemetery.
