Minnie E. Hunt

Minnie E. Hunt, 71, 1200 E. Seventh, formerly of 602 Kansas Ave., homemaker, died Saturday (March 6, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born May 5, 1927, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Milton M. and Minnie O. (Kennedy) Benjamin. She married Lawrence M. "Salty" Hunt April 25, 1950, in Winfield. He preceded her in death March 5, 1997.

She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Newton. She was employed with the school lunch program at Washington Grade School and also with the Humane Society, both of Newton.

Survivors include: one son, Pete Hunt of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Toni Young and Terri Monares, both of Newton; one brother, Alfred Benjamin of Lancaster, Calif. three grandchildren; and one step-grandson. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Treva Kaye Hunt.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Whitsell-Finnel Post 971 in Newton officiating. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.


Memorials have been established with Caring Hands Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
