Charles Stevenson Owens
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Charles Stevenson
Owens, 80, died Wednesday (March 10, 1999) at St. Luke's Midamerica
Heart Institute in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Sept. 30, 1918, in
Newburgh, N.Y., to Thomas and Margaret Owens. He married Martha June
Owens. She survives.
He retired from the U.S. Army, where he
served 32 years in active duty, including tours of duty in Germany,
Japan, New Zealand and Vietnam. After his retirement from active duty
he became consumate volunteer primarily through retiree programs at
Tinker Air Force Base Hospital Pharmacy, Base Chapel and the Elks
Club in Del City, Okla.
Other survivors include: two sons,
Thomas C. Owens of Overland Park and Robert C. Owens of Houston; one
brother, Thomas B. Owens of Bellvue, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Owens; and one
sister, Jane.
Funeral services were today at Tinker
Air Force Base Chapel in Oklahoma. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday
at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
