E. Gaynell McDonald

E. Gaynell McDonald, 88, 1200 E. Seventh, child care provider, died Monday (March 15, 1999) at Newton Presbyterian Manor.

She was born May 31, 1910, in Neodesha to Lyman M. and Grace (Michaell) Greer. She married Clarence O. McDonald April 30, 1930, in Bartlesville, Okla. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 1977.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Newton. She managed THE nursery at First United Methodist Church for many years. She was known as "Grandma Mac" in the Newton and surrounding area.

Survivors include: three sons, Jack McDonald of Rochester, Minn., Dan McDonald of Manhattan and David McDonald of Derby; one daughter, Darlene Caine of Wichita; four brothers, John J. Greer and William A. Greer, both of Neodesha, Jack Greer of Chanute, and Edwin Greer of Thayer; three sisters, Ethel Bodenhammer of Oxnard, Calif., and Grace Ellen McGouldric and Colleen Chambers, both of Harrison, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one son, William Eugene; three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. MyCherie Zimmerman of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and until service time on Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Apple -A-Day nursery at the Presbyterian Manor in care of the funeral home.
