Theodore 'Ted' Reimer Schmidt

Theodore "Ted" Reimer Schmidt, 86, farmer and former carpenter at American Coach Mobile Home plant in Newton, where he worked for many years, died Thursday (March 18, 1999) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton.

He was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Marion County to Henry D. and Katherina (Reimer) Schmidt. He married Agnes Hiebert June 15, 1940, in rural Goessel. She preceded him in death March 4, 1999.

He grew up on a farm near Mingo and later returning to Marion and Harvey County areas. They lived on a farm near Walton, moving to Newton in August 1994. He was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church.

Survivors include: one son, Bob G. Schmidt of Osage City; one daughter, Janice E. McAllister of Newton; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Joan Schmidt; and two great-grandchildren, Owen Nye and Eli Nye.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Tabor Mennonite Church with the Rev. Corey Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Tabor Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday with family greeting friends from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel.

Memorials have been established with Tabor Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
