Juan F. 'Freddy' Martinez
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Juan F.
"Freddy" Martinez, 61, installer for GTE in San Bernardino
for 20 years, died Saturday (March 20, 1999) at his residence in San
Bernardino.
He was born in Newton, where he lived
for 38 years. He married Josefina Gomez. She survives of San
Bernardino.
He was a member of Our Lady of the
Rosary Cathedral and Azteca's basketball and baseball teams. He was
president of Kiwanis Little League in 1980. He was involved with San
Bernardino City Parks and Recreation, where he was a player and coach
of various co-ed and men's softball teams. He was owner of Marty's
Dugout in San Bernardino.
Other survivors include: three sons,
Johnny F. Martinez, Kalin I. Martinez and Juan F. Makinson, all of
San Bernardino, Calif.; seven daughters, Monica Rivera, Cyndra
Arellano and Prima Rosa Martinez, all of San Bernardino, Yolanda
Hamacher of Corona, Calif., and Lisa Estrada, Jackie Hock and Julie
Adams, all of Wichita; five brothers, Manuel Martinez of Wichita,
Armando Martinez of El Paso, Texas, Richardo Martinez of Kansas City,
Mo., Alberto Martinez of Newton and Benito Martinez of Carson,
Calif.; four sisters, Rosemary Oquendo and Amelia Martinez, both of
San Bernardino, Dolores Rioz of Newton and Carolina Martinez of
Hutchinson; 24 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitations will be from 6 to 7 p.m.
Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Colton, Calif. Rosary
will follow at 7 p.m. also at the church. Funeral mass will be at 9
a.m. Friday at Our Lady at the Rosary Cathedral in San Bernardino.
Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
